NewAir 3.1cu.ft. Fridge/Freezer Combo. The Studio Get's an Upgrade!
I spend a lot of time up here in the studio answering comments, editing videos and of course filming them too!
While on my trip to Dayton Ohio for Hamvention, I came across a small microwave for like $40 with tax and decided to get it. Result? I love it but wanted a fridge to go with it.
New Air had this sweet combo unit that is small, but not so small that it's useless.
So far, I love it!

Maxon MCB 30 CB radio. Old school, but rock solid Radio from Maxton the company everyone forgets.

We all know the heavy hitters of the 80's and 90's/ Uniden, Cobra, Realistic, and Midland, but also running around in the mix was Maxon. They made a lot of decent radios back in the day and also made a lot of the radios for Radio Shack as well. My first 40 channel radio, a Realistic TRC-444 was a Maxon inside. Well laid out little refrigerator.
It really is- next step if filling it full so the studio is ready
That orange VW in the thumbnail needs a confederate flag on the roof and an "01" on the doors. 🙂

With fridge/freezer in the studio now. Nothing like a cold beer while you work
The next step should be a bathroom, then I would never be in the main house.
Man a Volkswagen Beetle is in my future! Any year you would recommend? I like that you can work on them yourself!
The best riding they ever made was a 73 or 74 super beetle. More room and they handle better but still the simplicity of working on a beetle.

The 213 cable makes a big difference. After 3 years, did you ever end up changing that out?
Yes. Now, we are moving the antenna tower up to the new studio.
Horrible place to mount
Not really. It focuses the range to the front left. (On coming traffic) making it perfect for highway use.
Excellent video Eric :) also got nice planning to and work out super building be !
We are moving along. Takes time, but it will be nice when it's done.
Change gmrs
Huh? GMRS is 100% dead.
STRYKER Sent you That For Free to Test Out ? I Wish They would Send me One
All you have to do is start a youtube channel. Put out 3 videos a week for 6 years straight while answering at least 90% of the comments, and then maybe...Maybe a company might reach out. Then, you have to spend just another year or so doing radio reviews before a big player finally takes notice. It's only an extra 40 hours a week out of your life. No big deal!
I can't put up a big outdoor antenna where I live, but I bought a magnetic loop antenna with a preamp similar to the one you show here and it was a game changer for sure. Only catch is you need a radio with the proper external antenna jack to hook it up. A couple of my smaller SW radios only have the internal telescopic antenna but the Eton Elite 750 has a few different connectors. The mag loop also works great for AM radio stations with the 750.
I love my MLA-30. It really pulls in the weak stations.
I would actually try to do some welding my self
It's easy to learn, but hard to master.

I will learn
You've got this!
I have had 2 volvo v70s and 1 xc60 and none of them had any seius work one had 400 000km and the one i have now is had 300 458 km and boght it for 700 dollars and have had to only do mantenence and wear components and my v70 2005 and the engine and gearbox is original and my buddy that have a volvo 850r and it has 450 000km and have the auto so i think the common problems is mantenase if you take care for it will work almost forever
That is simply not the case with US spec Volvos. 2 failed transmissions in less than 180K, blown engine seals at around 120K. Garbage!
@@FarpointFarms is it the 2.0 or 2.4 t5 engine my volvos have never had any serius problems they just work for me but I have only owned the d5 engines probably the best volvo eingine made but I have eu spec volvos

It will make a nice shop, some hard work in front of you.
tomorrows work is seeing how "level" the floor is and then having to make it level. Good times
I need this but the Link didn't work

Too bad you cant get a truck to pour that floor! I know its expensive we used to knock out those little floors in a couple of hours
I know, right
Throw in a nice little solar powered mini split AC system.
I like where you are going with that
@@FarpointFarms I saw a video for one a few days ago that doesn't require gauges to pressurize the lines. All couplings are already on. Just connect the lines, hook up the panels and you're good to go.
I found the video. I don't want to post a link because YT is getting too out of hand with what you can and can't do anymore. So just search for "FREE Heating & Air Conditioning Is Finally Here...".
wow...nice...curious...are you going to do a "dry pour" ?
No dry pour for us, I have see too many videos where the dry pour did not do well long term
Omg nice way to remove a wheel bearing hammer blowws hammer blows till something else brakes
Apparently you don't live in the rust belt. This is 100% normal everyday stuff here.
That project will keep you busy for awhile! lol BTW, I have some storm windows , glass, plexiglass, and screens that could be repurposed possibly for the project or projects you're working on, save you some $
I might take you up on the plexiglass, the main door glass is broken and needs to be replaced. There was an "incident" with a really long board and the old glass---
@@FarpointFarms Ok , right now all of that is at my shop at the flea market , I’ll be going there tomorrow (if my back allows me) , I’ll grab a panel for you , I’ll definitely will be there Saturday
Sounds great, thanks
can you time set the recording of the radio? Say like if you wanted to listen to your talk show from the day, in the pm or drive to work? THanks in advance. -Brian
If you can, I have not been able to figure it out. I can make it shut off at a certain time though.
I and most of my buds were into CB (not SSB) in high school in the early 70s. It was great fun for a while. Then the linear bozos started trashing the channels and rednecks held cussing contests. By the time I ditched my CB equipment there wasn't enough squelch to filter out the noise. It was fun while it lasted, though!
Anybody know how to disable key beep when pressing the buttons on the radio? I’ve looked through manual without any success.
Anyone? I could not figure it out as well
Jenn, It has been 11 months since you made this video, How has this Vacuum Sealer held up? Any issues with it in the past 11 months?
It has done pretty well- It is really getting ready to get some use when the garden comes in.
Thanks for your very informative video on the Eton Elite 750 (mine is a Tecsun S-2000). I was hoping to find info on using the SSB feature.
It's pretty straightforward.
That’s a 10 meter only radio. If you want to run up 1500 watts legally then get your ham ticket.
Sure.
So why keep AM if FM is superior?
Numbers. There are maybe 150,000 FM radios sold so far, and over 49 million AM radios sold.
I have a question for anybody out there. I got into CB’s in the 70’s and something I remember is that you could get a laminated 10 code cheat sheet form Radio Shack and keep it on you cars visor for quick reference or until you memorized all that was on it. Mine was a yellowish color or maybe tan, it’s been a long time. Anyway I sure would like to have it now. So here’s my question. Does anyone have a picture of what I’m talking about? Or where I can get one? Thanks.
I've seen them, but don't have one here to take a picture of. Sorry!
Ok...soooo.. if a CB radio transmitter utilizes Amplitude Modulation (AM) to transmit voice signals over a 27 MHz carrier frequency. The transmitter is designed to operate at a maximum carrier power of 4W and employs a modulation index of 0.8. The modulating audio signal has a frequency range of 300 Hz to 3 kHz. a)help me Derive the expression for the instantaneous voltage of the AM signal and calculate the peak envelope power (PEP) of the transmitter. b)then, ol buddy.. Given that the transmitter uses a Class C amplifier for RF amplification, analyze the impact of this choice on the linearity and efficiency of the modulation process. c) so .....The transmitter's output is filtered by a Butterworth low-pass filter with a cutoff frequency of 10 kHz. Help me determine the required order of the filter to ensure adequate attenuation of the first harmonic of the carrier. d) will you talk about the effect of frequency stability and phase noise of the carrier oscillator on the intelligibility and quality of the transmitted AM signal? e)ok..now, If the transmission path introduces a multipath delay spread of up to say... 5 microseconds, can you evaluate the impact on the received signal quality, if we consider both the coherence bandwidth of the channel and potential intersymbol interference?
Way over my head. Sorry!
So is it correct that A Q-factor of 10 implies a narrower bandwidth and better harmonic suppression but will limit the amplifier's ability to handle wider bandwidth signals? Maybe even potentially reducing performance in applications requiring broader frequency response? Does Harmonic suppression improve linearity? Should it be balanced against bandwidth requirements?
No idea. Sorry!
I've owned a 2002, a 2005, and now a 2009 (all xc70) and yes I def had tranny issues with the 2002, but the other 2 were great, actually still have the 09 with 190k. And yes there is a price to pay for loving Volvos. I just got a spare key to the tune of $500.
Owch! $500? I just programmed a key for a customer on her 09 Toyota. Total cost including key and programming was well under $100.
Thanks for doing this video. I’m blind, as well. My friend is also blind, and he is looking for a budget, friendly option, to get into the GMRS world. I just sent him your video, to look at. Did you ever program any repeaters into this radio? If so, was the software accessible? Thanks for any input.
I have not had to time to do the repeaters- life keeps getting in the way
Purchased one, lasted about a month stop working. Not worth the money.
Did you send it back for warranty? Mine is nearly 3 years old and still going.
Yeah bud, 76'es, it looks like a lot of fun. Does it connect to your Solocon 2000 (Ohio)? Wait a minute is that Wifi, not radio? I'm missing something. Obviously. You can always put a USA sticker over Choyong, if you want to!
I think you mean a China sticker over the USA. We sold out long ago.
Is there any benefit to upper vs lower sideband?
None. It's just the way it turned out. LSB seems to be the dominate beast on CB.
The A-99 works well on 10-17 meters
Thanks for sharing!
Dang I made one kind like that in high-school it plywood n bicycle tires don't use it
